China Lifts One-Child Policy; Few Know It was Instigated and Applauded by Western Liberals

A bit of fascinating news, today:  China has lifted its ‘one-child’ policy and will now, in its divine benevolence, allow its citizens to have two children.

In its own way, this move is an acknowledgement of one of the greatest government-perpetrated ideological blunders of the 20th century, right up there with the mass famines resulting from the Soviet ‘scientific’ policies such as those advocated by Lysenko.  The Nazi T-4 project also comes to mind.  That program led to the elimination of tens of thousands of disabled and mentally ill people “for their own good” and “in the name of … continue reading...

Flame retardants, fluoride, and your lack of skepticism

It turns out that our furniture first became full of flame retardants because of the tobacco industry, according to internal cigarette company documents examined by The Tribune. A generation ago, tobacco companies were facing growing pressure to produce fire-safe cigarettes, because so many house fires started with smoldering cigarettes. So tobacco companies mounted a surreptitious campaign for flame retardant furniture, rather than safe cigarettes, as the best way to reduce house fires.

Former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson has set the pro-life blogosphere on fire with her posting of the ‘Jaffe Memo,’ a memorandum written by Frederick S. Jaffe, former vice-president of Planned Parenthood.  Jaffe apparently was in charge of PP’s population control agenda.  The memo was written in 1969.

Reflections on culture, evangelism, and apologetics

I’ve been thinking about the culture wars lately.  I have a real problem with Christians who seem to be driving for a change in the culture just for the sake of having a ‘holy’ culture.  I think we’d have to call that a legalistic culture.  I believe that the Christian church should be about something more than creating white-washed tombs.

On the other hand, the nature of ‘culture’ is that it perpetuates itself, feeds itself, fuels itself.   The culture is the air we breathe and the water in which we swim.  It has the ability to mold us into its … continue reading...
