The New Argument of the New Atheists

I don’t hate atheists.  I don’t like arguing for the sake of arguing and don’t have a ‘thing’ about winning a debate.  I discourse with atheists because I love them, and because I believe that I am right in my belief that God is going to call this world to account and if we do not have Christ as our advocate, we’re toast (And Christ stands ready to be our advocate the moment we’ll let him).

Arguing about the morality of a thing with an atheist is pointless

Everyone has heard the charge:  God is a moral monster.  Indeed, Christians themselves have often struggled to reconcile the goodness of God with some of the actions recorded in the Scriptures, not to mention the bloodiness of human history.  I have myself struggled with this.  What thoughtful person hasn’t?  Unfortunately, as soon as you open your mouth to charge God with evil conduct, you have proved he exists, and also that he is good, because unless there exists a good God, all moral statements are nonsensical.

News Flash: Boys have Penises, Girls have Vaginas / Contra Feminism

The news article title is “Parents keep child’s gender a secret.”

In this remarkable but unsurprising news story we learn of two parents who have decided not to let the world know what kind of genitalia their child has.  It is their goal to let their child decide for ‘itself’ whether or not it shall behave ‘as a boy’ or ‘as a girl’ when s/he is old enough to understand and decide.  Unsurprisingly, the parents are thoroughly liberal progressives.   And this kind of story is why I am a ‘conservative.’

Joy held hostage to Evil- on rejoicing in Bin Laden’s Death

I posted a blog entry at the Christian Post recently.

The reported death of Bin Laden generated crowds of people on the street wrapped in American flags and cheering.  A casual look at the reaction to this reaction revealed to me that many people shared my apprehension with such a response.  Different reasons for the apprehension have been produced:

PZ Myers Should be Fired for Labeling Aborted Babies as ‘Meat’: A Debate

Tomorrow night, Tuesday Feb 1st, for our next Knights of Contention, we will debate the following proposition:  PZ Myers Should be Fired!

Why I became a Conservative

When I was in college there was this guy 2 1/2 times larger than me… a philosophy major, as I recall… appropriately named ‘Animal.’  I remember having a debate about pain with him.  I argued it was all in our minds- just a brain state- and not real.  Animal said, “Come here, and I’ll show you unreal pain.”

The now humiliated mainstream media first tried to pin the attack by Jared Loughner on conservatives and the Tea Party only to discover that very few of Loughner’s views resembled conservative values  at all.  (As of this writing, I don’t think we do know what his motivations were even yet.)  Conservatives defended themselves with effect, but there was one portion of that defense that I wish to take issue with.

I saw a couple of hits on a blog entry I wrote in March of 2010.  The gist of it is that I mocked the notion that the state has no business deciding who should marry.  I just looked at the entry again and have found my facetious arguments compelling. *

Apologetics is the Answer to Abortion and Euthanasia and other Life Issues

Not too long ago I posted an essay asserting that ‘apologetics is the answer to everything.’  Even then I had in mind to discuss the relationship between apologetics and life issues such as abortion, euthanasia, eugenics, etc, but fought off the urge to elaborate on it.  Now is my chance.

Apparently, a letter has been written to GOP leaders by conservative homosexuals and some tea-party activists requesting that the GOP lay off its traditional pro-life stance.
