Time to crack down on the Christian Fundamentalists!

I checked the news right away this morning because I had heard about the Norway atrocity and had been following it somewhat.  Lo and behold, we are told that the gunman, Anders Breivik, is a ‘Christian fundamentalist with right-wing connections.’   I thought that was pretty interesting, because when we had our Fort Hood shooting in Texas by Nidal Hasan, it took the media several days to report the fact that he was a Muslim and the president of the United States himself came out of the woodwork to caution us all against leaping to conclusions connecting the man’s … continue reading...

Online Apologetics Academy Enrolling

The Athanatos Online Apologetics Academy is enrolling now.  It is almost too late to enroll in the “Introduction to basic Biblical Greek” course but it can be downloaded as an e-book in expanded fashion from here.  (Good for home schoolers, self-study, small groups, Bible study groups, etc)

God Created Your Brain: Fall 2008 Online Apologetics Academy Enrolling

Many people are intimidated by the pompous declarations of those like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris.  Many people think that becoming a Christian means checking your brain at the door.  Some think that it would take endless study to be able to stand up to the challenges against Christianity.  Let us be clear:  it does take some work, but it need not be all at once and you can do a little at a time.  The Athanatos Online Apologetics Academy offers short modules that do not require massive amounts of your time.  At the same time, you’ll gain resources to … continue reading...

What is Christianity? Why should we Study Atheism? Who cares how the Bible was Formed?

Beginning on April 30th, 2008, Athanatos Online Academy’s course “Studies in Atheism” will begin. This three week course will give a brief history of atheism through the centuries and then leap to a discussion of more modern atheists such as Bertrand Russell, Antony Flew, and the so-called ‘New’ atheists: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens, and so on.

Why should anyone care? Why should Christians care? Trends in atheism are as discernible as trends in anything else and many agree (even ‘moderate’ atheists will sometimes agree) that the current trends are ominous. Moreover, if Christians want to reach out … continue reading...

Mother Teresa had moments of doubt?

This blog inspired by this article at Time. I consequently wrote this short story called “Mother Teresa Goes to Heaven.”

I will admit that I didn’t follow the life and times of Mother Teresa. What I know comes from news reports and things of that sort. That said, I think this article really illustrates a common misconception about being a Christian, and to be honest, it is one more thing we can lay at the feet of Christians themselves. The article expresses pure shock that Mother Teresa could do what she did while simultaneously feeling distant from God. … continue reading...
