By Popular Demand, On Love

This was posted some time ago elsewhere and I wanted it on this blog for reference sake.


Thanks to all who commented and read my last note. It was suggested that I hadn’t yet proposed any solutions to the crisis in the Church. It is true, I hinted at it, and suggested that a study on Love with the same thoroughness that we approach many other doctrines would both highlight problems and offer solutions. In this note, I again only ‘hint.’

Three words Christians abuse: church, worship, love

The title of this post does not do the matter justice.  The word ‘abuse’ is too mild, and it might be even more accurate to say that in actual fact the sweeping trend within Christendom is that there is outright plain ignorance on what these terms mean.  The charge only matters at all to those Christians who believe that the Scriptures are the final and ultimate authority.  A huge swath of people who call themselves Christians obviously don’t, so this post is not really for them, even though they share in the guilt.   Of course, the term ‘Christian’ itself is … continue reading...

Madagascar and Unconditional Love versus Romantic Love

Last night I went and saw Madagascar II with my wife and kids.  Though there were a couple of things that were over the top they were fortunately things my kids didn’t think twice about.  Still, wish they wouldn’t do that.  Anyway, there was this one scene that got me thinking.  The scene is where hunk hippo Moto Moto is asked by New York Girl hippo Gloria ‘Why do you like me?”
