Did you hear about the great nation of Pacifotopia?   It was the first nation run and administered by pacifists.  They were earnest in their pacifism, giving up all weapons of war in virtuous cause of non-violence.  Heard of it?  No?  That’s because the next day it was gobbled up by random country X.

There’s a lot of churches out there.

I have been a church-goer for 30 years. I’ve been serious about Christianity. I’m practical. I’m simple.

My seriousness about Christianity simply means (see? simple) as much as is within me, I am devoted and dedicated to the Lord. I’m not a bandwagon jumper. I hate them. In Conformance to Reality: What does Virginia Tech ‘show’ us?

I’ve had quite a few things on my plate this last week so I didn’t have much of an opportunity to comment on the V-tech massacre, even if I had wanted to.  Having listened to some of the media coverage, I’m frankly glad that I wasn’t able to hear more.  The run to make political hay out of the event was atrocious in my view but I noticed that my own comments could have been percieved as more of the same.  I spent some time reflecting on what was different in my reaction and commentary and this post is part … continue reading...
