Lincoln on Slavery Applied to Abortion: Irony in Electing a Pro-Choice Black President

Hat tip to Eric Redmond for posting this article on Facebook from John Piper’s website.  Here is what was quoted from Lincoln:

You say A. is white, and B. is black. It is color, then; the lighter, having the right to enslave the darker? Take care. By this rule, you are to be slave to the first man you meet, with a fairer skin than your own.

You do not mean color exactly? You mean the whites are intellectually the superiors of the blacks, and, therefore have the right to enslave them? Take care again. By this rule, you

This is for all the Christians who voted for Obama

If terrorists and tyrants want Obama as president that is cause for concern to me.  If I am a Christian who is operating on the belief that Obama reflects my values, the fact that secular humanists are thrilled is a warning sign.  With no further comment, here you go:

I’m just saying.… continue reading...

Abortion and Slavery: Obama as the Anti-Lincoln

Right there on the Drudge Report was a picture of Obama posturing in front of the Lincoln Memorial.  It doesn’t take much to see the relevance.  Lincoln was instrumental in liberating black people from slavery in this country.  150 years later, a black person is president.  The spin doctors aren’t content to leave it at that.  The effort is on to try to relate Obama to Lincoln’s style, intellect, etc.  But Obama is no Lincoln.

The prevailing argument in the hundred years leading up to the Civil War was this simple question:  is a black person a human person, entitled … continue reading...

Solving the Abortion Debate Through Radical Love

This is not the first time I’ve said as much, but I maintain that though legislative efforts are important, the abortion debate is to be won on grounds other than that.   I don’t think I am the only one to make the point.  It has been noted that even on a best case scenario, the overturning of Roe vs. Wade throws the issues to the states.  Finally, even if every state banned abortions there would still be women seeking them.  At the bottom, persuading women to keep their children and enabling them to do so is utterly necessary.

As pro-lifers … continue reading...

Rand’s Atlas Shrugged as Template for Today’s Liberal Lunacy

This morning’s post is inspired by this Wall Street Journal article.   Essentially, Moore argues that the government is currently engaged in exactly the kind of behavior witnessed in the book.

It is uncouth these days to say anything even slightly critical about the president-elect, excuse me, the Messiah.  No one wants to hear it.  The mass opinion seems to be that we should all at least swallow our partisan tongues for a little while and “Wish Obama a Successful Presidency.”

We are not permitted to ask exactly what would constitute a ‘success’ in Obama’s eyes.  For I certainly do … continue reading...

The Coming Nationalization of America: Without a Wimper

On the Drudge today they had an article discussing how the Ayers-Alinksy administration is not using the word ‘nationalization.’   In that article, the following statement regarding the continued nationalization (ie, the auto industry) is made:

It all sounds perilously close to a word that no one in Obama’s camp wants to be caught uttering: nationalization.

Not since Harry Truman seized America’s steel mills in 1952 rather than allow a strike to imperil the conduct of the Korean War has Washington toyed with nationalization, or its functional equivalent, on this kind of scale. Obama may be thinking what Truman told his

Transforming the Culture by Transforming People: Apologetics

I have been harping on this for some time, now, but a friend exposed me to Barna’s latest polling about the election which measured how Christians voted.

In brief:

  1. The Republican challenger generally won over a majority of people whose beliefs reflected a conservative Christian faith. For instance, he won 57% of those who strongly believed that the Bible is totally accurate in all the principles it teaches; 61% of adults who strongly affirmed a personal responsibility to share their religious faith with others; 63% of those who believe that Satan is a living, influential force; 64% who contend that

The Abortion Issue Now that Obama has Won

Any reader of my blog knows that I am a ‘one issue’ voter with abortion being that one issue.  A reader of my blog also knows that even though I see the overturning of Roe vs. Wade as the most significant event to bring about because of the sheer impact, I believe the ultimate solution is at a much smaller level.  For just one example of my thoughts, you can read my post “Abortion and the Pro-Life Movement if Obama Wins

Otherwise the ‘abortion’ category to the left will keep you reading for awhile.

I had just a … continue reading...

Proof that Obama was/is a Socialist: Other Socialists Said So In Writing

I generally have kept my blog away from conspiracy theory type stuff though I have suspected there is an element to truth to a lot of the ones circulating about Obama.  Yesterday I saw something that I think is so indisputable that it can no longer be considered a ‘conspiracy theory.’  It is a cold, hard fact.  It does not require an Obama ‘explanation.’  It requires an Obama admission.  He needs to be truthful with the American people.

I am referring here to clippings from a Socialist news paper in the 1990s which listed Barack as a member of their … continue reading...

Abortion and the Pro-Life Movement if Obama Wins

An Open Letter to the Pro-Life Community

———–

The media is doing all it can to persuade Americans that an Obama victory is inevitable.  Personally, I think McCain will pull it out.  The biggest reason I have for supporting McCain is his pledge to appoint originalist judges to the courts, and in particular (of course) the Supreme Court.  What happens if Obama wins?  Then we have judges who feel they can make up law as sentimentality dictates.

However, I would like to suggest that for those of us firmly anti-abortion and especially those of us who are Christian, who wins … continue reading...

Obama Rallies in My Area: Wall Street and Main Street Greed

I apologize to readers normally arriving for the religious and philosophical content, but since Obama actually just spoke in my area I felt compelled to speak.  (Also, I don’t see a real division between religion, philosophy, and politics… political views are just the manifestation of one’s world view).  Since I watched it live on television I don’t have a link to a transcript, although I don’t think it will be necessary.

Obama did his typically slam in regards to the current economic crisis saying that we got into this mess because of ‘Wall Street Greed’ and that he would not … continue reading...

Obama: Selected Not Elected?

So they’re throwing the Democrat nomination to Obama tonight, saying he ‘clinched it.’

Here is a link to the delegate score card:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_delegate_count.html

You need 2,118 delegates to ‘win’ the nomination, but that number includes super-delegates, who can vote any way they please. Obama has 1764.5 and Clinton has 1637.5 regular delegates. The only way Obama ‘clinches’ it is if you add in the super-delegates. He’s hundreds short of winning the 2,118 outright on regular delegates.

In short, this race has been decided by the super-delegates, not by the people. I really can’t believe the Democrat party is going … continue reading...

So Hard To Say Your Sorry- Apologies All Around

My first year of teaching I had a conversation with a young woman about CS Lewis’s position on dissection. She insisted that Lewis opposed it. I, as a Lewis buff, knew that he had never said anything of the sort. A good week went by and the young lady grew quite angry. Finally she produced Lewis’s essay denouncing vivisection and I basically blew it off. For obviously, vivisection is different than dissection. Something like five years later I realized with a start that I had totally botched the whole thing. The girl had always been talking about vivisection the entire … continue reading...
