Arguing about the morality of a thing with an atheist is pointless

Everyone has heard the charge:  God is a moral monster.  Indeed, Christians themselves have often struggled to reconcile the goodness of God with some of the actions recorded in the Scriptures, not to mention the bloodiness of human history.  I have myself struggled with this.  What thoughtful person hasn’t?  Unfortunately, as soon as you open your mouth to charge God with evil conduct, you have proved he exists, and also that he is good, because unless there exists a good God, all moral statements are nonsensical.

Granted, how you get from one to the other requires some intermediary steps.  It … continue reading...

News Flash: Boys have Penises, Girls have Vaginas / Contra Feminism

The news article title is “Parents keep child’s gender a secret.”

In this remarkable but unsurprising news story we learn of two parents who have decided not to let the world know what kind of genitalia their child has.  It is their goal to let their child decide for ‘itself’ whether or not it shall behave ‘as a boy’ or ‘as a girl’ when s/he is old enough to understand and decide.  Unsurprisingly, the parents are thoroughly liberal progressives.   And this kind of story is why I am a ‘conservative.’

Atheism and Facts and the Escape from Oneself

A recent commenter said:  “Well I don’t believe in invisible entities like gods, angels, spirits, or pixies, faeries, etc…”

I immediately thought to myself all the invisible things that he does believe in.   I thought of the invisible things that the scientific community believes in- like all the missing dark matter and the millions of years which life is said to have evolved in which is ever and always invisible to direct observation- and realized with a start a fact which of course I have long been aware of… atheists who hide behind science in their mockery of those who believe … continue reading...

Understanding the Root Controversy of Intelligent Design

I have not yet seen Stein’s movie, Expelled, but hope to by the end of this weekend.  I’ve used this week as an opportunity to highlight various issues and I have linked to corroboration of at least some of the allegations that are made in the movie.  I would like to spend a moment addressing what I believe is the real crux of the matter.  This post is mainly for Christians but I can’t stop skeptics from reading.

The central argument in Intelligent Design, in the eyes of certain scientists and budding atheists, is whether or not ID should be … continue reading...

What it means that Dumbledore is Gay, A Christian’s Response, and Objective Reality

I have a lot to cram in here, so I don’t know that it is even worth trying.  It may help if you go back to my first post on this subject.  This makes my third post on the subject.

Something interesting I found today was this article here by a certain, aptly named, Michael Dorf.   I thought it interesting because he makes the point that just because Rowling declares Dumbledore to be gay, it does not make it so.   It cannot be supported by the text, which stands alone.  I agree with this in a sense.  One … continue reading...
