I have noticed an increase in massive marches and demonstrations in the United States over the last ten years. Some see this as a healthy by-product of democracy. I think it is the opposite. I think it is an indicator that democracy is in some stage of collapse. Certainly, any legitimate democracy should grant a free right to assemble, but that the people feel they have to assemble in the first place in order for anything to get done means that there is the stench of something very rotten in Denmark. It isn’t easy to put one’s finger on what it is–but that’s precisely part of the problem. If you want to get a feel for how the Republic is really doing these days, don’t look to that meaningless ‘State of the Union’ speech given by the president each year. Look to the streets and see how many, and how often, the people are coursing through them.

I would just like to take this moment to thank the rich people of America for their generous subsidizing the lion’s share of America’s taxes. This year, for example, I am especially grateful for the child tax credit. Thanks!

This can’t end well. And when it does end in tyranny–and I’m pretty sure it will, although I don’t know when exactly–it will be because of dolts like those I just featured in this blog post who created the conditions and actually carried out the acts that facilitated it. And when it happens, they’ll look around, surprised, “How did this happen? This isn’t what I had in mind! I had good intentions! This foul result has nothing to do with anything that I did… put me in power again and I’ll do it right this time…”

The stalwart propaganda rag for Russia, Pravda, has published an article on gun control that makes a good point: The excuse that people will start shooting each other is also plain and silly. So it is our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents who can never be trusted? Then, please explain […]

Get this on your E-reader using this link and coupon for 100% off: ZC29N I must at the outset admit the debt owed to GK Chesterton, for it was on the third reading of his “Eugenics and Other Evils” that his comments about ‘the anarchy from above’ finally made sense. They made sense because they […]

This series began as a reflection of the contents of the Jaffe Memo, a Planned Parenthood document from 1969 that discussed ideas for handling the ‘population’ crisis. This memo succinctly lays bear an agenda that has been in play since before the Civil War, and as I have demonstrated in previous parts of this series […]

In my first post, I showed how the beliefs of the Nazis and the eugenicists are disturbingly similar to viewpoints of some modern liberals. I gave three examples; I could have given three hundred. The Jaffe Memo shows that ‘population control’ is central to the the progressive outlook on the world. It is an aspect […]

That’s really what you have going on here… you know, the old “A rose by any other name is still a rose” thing… a boy is still a boy by any other name, and likewise a girl… but you have some people who think that by throwing off definitions you can obliterate, change, or deny the underlying reality. Are there sometimes when definitions can be unhelpful? Sure, I can buy that. But there are limits to that observation. This is secularism: taking an observation into account but jettisoning the limits or notion of limits.

Pro-life speaker Anthony Horvath recounts the history of the ‘Culture of Death’ from Thomas Malthus to Charles Darwin to Margaret Sanger to Peter Singer, with an array of personalities in between. Horvath shows why population control proposals permeate the ‘Progressive’ movement for the last 200 years and why, and how, it must be countered today. This presentation was delivered Nov. 20th, 2010, at Concordia University in Seward Nebraska for a Nebraska Lutherans for Life organization.

The headline I read today was “New charge on dinner tab is in bad taste.” The opening paragraphs seemed to set the stage for the article:
Nothing succeeds in the travel industry like a bad idea. The latest hidden mandatory add-on is a “health” charge added to restaurant bills. As far as I know, this scam cropped up first in San Francisco, but you can count on it to spread.
The rationale for this one is to cover the employers’ mandatory contribution to the City’s “Healthy San Francisco” health-coverage system. The charge actually is levied on employers, but at least some restaurants are adding a few dollars or percentage points to each customer’s bill to cover this charge.
