As I write this, the president of the Ukraine has been deposed and there are tens of thousands of people massed in great, giant, demonstrations.

Do you know what a Rube Goldberg machine is?  Here are some pictures if you don’t.  It’s an elaborate machine composed of unnecessary parts that requires an extraordinary amount of tinkering to get working correctly.

I really believe that Progressives will be the death of the United States, the Republic, the democratic process, and freedom itself.  I also doubt very much that the Progressives intend this, know that their positions will result in this, or, when tyranny is upon us, have any notion whatsoever their their beliefs, behaviors, attitude, and conduct, had anything to do with it.

Pravda has a point: culture considerations in the gun control debate

The stalwart propaganda rag for Russia, Pravda, has published an article on gun control that makes a good point:

The excuse that people will start shooting each other is also plain and silly. So it is our politicians saying that our society is full of incapable adolescents who can never be trusted? Then, please explain how we can trust them or the police, who themselves grew up and came from the same culture?

The Jaffe Memo, Ginsburg, Harris v. McRae, and Population Control – PART 5

In my first post, I showed how the beliefs of the Nazis and the eugenicists are disturbingly similar to viewpoints of some modern liberals.  I gave three examples;  I could have given three hundred.  The Jaffe Memo shows that ‘population control’ is central to the the progressive outlook on the world.  It is an aspect of their ‘religion.’  As progressives have flooded into the government over the last sixty years, the moral (!) righteousness of population control has become institutionalized.

Reality.

Call me quaint, but I believe we are obligated to conform our beliefs to the actual world around us.  It was chiefly on account of this that I felt compelled to take a perspective that we today call ‘conservative.’   There is the world we wished we lived in and there is the world that we actually live in.  Another way of putting this is:  people are as people are going to be and no social engineering will ever change what people are.

News Flash: Boys have Penises, Girls have Vaginas / Contra Feminism

The news article title is “Parents keep child’s gender a secret.”

In this remarkable but unsurprising news story we learn of two parents who have decided not to let the world know what kind of genitalia their child has.  It is their goal to let their child decide for ‘itself’ whether or not it shall behave ‘as a boy’ or ‘as a girl’ when s/he is old enough to understand and decide.  Unsurprisingly, the parents are thoroughly liberal progressives.   And this kind of story is why I am a ‘conservative.’

The headline I read today was “New charge on dinner tab is in bad taste.”  The opening paragraphs seemed to set the stage for the article:
