Author Involvement Central to New Publishing Models

Not too long ago I had someone pitch me a book. The book had good potential, but needed some revisions. As in other cases in my experience, the author was ready to participate in the marketing of the book, but by that it seemed clear that it was going to be publisher-initiated. A Disappointing Attack Article by Richard Abanes

I came across a disappointing article by Richard Abanes yesterday called “ODMS:  A Cult is Born?”  I say disappointing because I like a lot of Abanes’ material.  However, I am not surprised by Abanes’ perspective.

Abanes complains about the multitude of ‘online discernment ministries’ acting without oversight or credentials.  He throws a bone here and there about some ministries being legit and worthwhile but it comes across as reluctant, if not forced.  I presume that I am in the group of apologetics ministries he graciously descends from on high to bless, but since so many aspects of his … continue reading...

Sntjohnny and his new non-profit: Athanatos Christian Ministries, apologetics, culture, education, etc

Despite my passion for apologetics coming out of college, the realities were such that my full time jobs had to take precedence. The discussion forum debates had to happen late into the night. After 7 years of professional ministry experiences (teaching high school, junior high, Bible college, parish ministry) my full time occupation became more flexible and I could devote more time to it. That meant that the next step, formal incorporation as a non-profit, was obvious.
