    A brief Introduction:

While studying to be a pastor in college I abandoned my faith. In fact, I abandoned everything I thought I believed and rebuilt.

To my own surprise at the time, I found that Christianity was much stronger than I had thought. As I rebuilt my belief system, I realized that there needed to be people out there responding to the questions people have. I had them myself. So, while not continuing on to be a pastor, I have focused on educating people about what Christianity is all about and responding to the various charges and accusations made against it.

There are some obvious challenges to being successful in that capacity, but a big part of it consists not in arguing with atheists and skeptics, but rather in providing Christians with accurate information in the first place to prevent them from leaving the faith in the first place.

Questioning is a very normal and natural part of growing up, and I am convinced that it is not wrong to ask questions of God at any age. God doesn't strike people down. On the other hand, if people are going to reject Christianity, it is my aim to at least make sure they reject the real Christianity and not a false view of it. Also, much heartache can be avoided by educating Christians properly to begin with. My experience has helped me... but it was unnecessary.

Paul said that some plant, some water, and others reap the increase. My job is to go out into the land and move rocks- or break them if necessary- till the land, and struggle through knee deep fertilizer... all in the effort to allow those who come later to plant, water, and reap the harvest. I look forward to the prospects of either serving you as someone who needs to haul rocks out of the field, or as someone who can look at the field, detect problems, and help farmers more effectively plant, water, and reap.

Christians blaming Christians for the Modern Situation

Posted by Anthony on April 7, 2009

I just saw two posts on Worldnetdaily.com blaming the Christian church itself for the interesting predicament it finds itself in today in America.  I submit them for your reading pleasure and have just a few comments of my own below.

Article one- The Church’s desertion in a time of war.

Article two- Christians, We are to blame.

I certainly agree with much of their analysis, having said similar things for awhile now.  For example, I think it is clear that our attempt to reverse Roe vs. Wade relied far too much on the political process.  That does not mean, as one of the authors above pointed out, that we shouldn’t be involved in politics at all.  Pundits and analysts (and Republican party members themselves) fail to comprehend why Christians gravitated to the Republicans in the first place.  We put them into office- they failed to deliver.  Today it is practically impossible to distinguish between the parties in many respects and I am not alone in being disgusted, not impressed, by the tough sounding words out of the Republicans who are still in office. Government Declares that April Fools Day is now 365 Days a Year

Posted by Anthony on April 1, 2009

Nice try, Mike.

One learns not to believe anything you hear on April 1st, period.

The jokes on April Fool’s day that you do fall for are funny enough.  After all, the jokes are usually harmless enough.  There is something delightful about a day every year to help highlight our need for skepticism and our general inclination to believe that which is presented, especially if the ones who present things are normally trustworthy.

What happens, though, when this general inclination is exploited on a continuing basis?  What if certain folks aim to take advantage of our collective gullibility but with a twist:  the jokes aren’t harmless anymore and if they have anything to say about it they are never discovered as jokes at all?

Friends, that is the situation we now find ourselves in.  The US Government is operating on the principle that it is April Fools day every day of the year.  24/7, 365 days a year.   Before you get worked up over that insidious reality let’s remember how it is able to work in the first place.  If we simple folk would ‘get the joke’ they’d stop playing them on us.

Let’s think of some jokes played on the American public recently. Read the rest of the entry… »

Dear Republicans: You are Fired

Posted by Anthony on February 3, 2009

I just love hearing all the tough talk from Republicans right now going after Obama’s stimulus bill and acting all ‘conservative.’  Where was this tough talk 4 months ago?  You’re fighting a 1 trillion measure that isn’t going to do jack for the economy under Obama but you laid down for 1 trillion in handouts that didn’t do jack for the economy when it was Bush.

Honestly, I don’t believe your tough words.  You don’t really believe them yourself.  You read the political winds and calculate what you think will get the most people to like you, and theoretically, the most who will vote for you.  In a word, you are worthless.

And you’ve been worthless for eight years.  ‘Conservatives’ held the House, the Senate, and the White House for 6 years.  In that time, you accomplished almost nothing of merit.   When the Democrats kicked up a fuss (which they did on literally everything) you always gave in.  You let them threaten to filibuster every important action and never made them actually follow through with their threats.  The stinking, sickening, disgusting irony of it is that the Democrats are going to do precisely what you never did but should have.
