The law required that all children \u2018whose health permits\u2019 be vaccinated against smallpox, and obliged physicians to certify that vaccination had taken place. Parents who refused vaccination could be fined \u00a31.\r\n\r\nEnforcing compulsion of vaccination at, for example, schools would also be far from straightforward. Another layer of bureaucracy would have to be set up. Religious objections would have to be respected.\r\n\r\nThere are also libertarian arguments to consider. Some will argue this would be a step too far for state intervention in family life.\r\n\r\nRegarding COVID-19, this could still go a long way. Although a lot of scientists, bioethicists suggests that \u201cthis would be the most effective and most ethical way to slowly return to normal life\u201d, we must remember that we do not trample on someone's rights.","link":"https:\/\/sntjohnny.com\/front\/tag\/compulsory-vaccination","name":"compulsory vaccination","slug":"compulsory-vaccination","taxonomy":"post_tag","meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sntjohnny.com\/front\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags\/5399","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sntjohnny.com\/front\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sntjohnny.com\/front\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/taxonomies\/post_tag"}],"wp:post_type":[{"href":"https:\/\/sntjohnny.com\/front\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts?tags=5399"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
