It is a United States Department of State task force that "coordinates and oversees the Administration's efforts to monitor, prevent, contain, and mitigate the spread" of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
This team was enabled by President Trump last January 29, 2020, and Vice President Mike Pence was named to chair the task force. This team comprised of the 'experts' on the matter like Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Dr. Deborah Birx acting as the main response coordinator. Others are the Surgeon General of the United States Jerome Adams, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Robert Redfield, United States Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar and many more.
The task force has used press briefings to communicate updates, guidelines, and policy changes to the public during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic in the US.
