I’m pulling thoughts together on a pro-life presentation I’ll be giving next week and have settled on ‘suffering’ as my topic, as it is an underlying rationale to much that we call the ‘culture of death,’ but is not usually targeted directly. By the time this little essay is done, you’ll see how ‘suffering’ and […]

I’ve been spending a fair bit of time acquiring and analyzing books that advocate for manipulating people. Not, as you might be thinking, so I can manipulate people, but because I find manipulation to be disgusting, vile behavior. It is prima facie evidence of that the manipulator is a bad actor. Bad actors should be […]

I have been involved in Christian apologetics for a little over 20 years, with about 7 years of ‘professional’ church work under my belt. I’ve had many, many conversations with unbelievers, online and off. Many, if not most, were not raised as atheists, but were former Christians. We tended to focus on argument and evidence […]

“There are no Christians, as far as I know, blowing up buildings. I am not aware of any Christian suicide bombers. I am not aware of any major Christian denomination that believes the penalty for apostasy is death. I have mixed feelings about the decline of Christianity, in so far as Christianity might be a […]

One of the things that led me to reject atheism is the realization that most of its arguments, if true, mean that we couldn’t possibly know its true. It violates what I call “the Golden rule of Epistemology,” which means, basically, “any epistemological approach that undermines epistemology itself must be rejected out of hand.” I […]

Installment 1: They’re coming for you, whether your like it or not. War began before you were even born. Installment 2: Don’t give them a foothold. They will ABSOLUTELY use it against you. In the second installment I argued that there were certain things about the Islamic religion that naturally bear certain kinds of fruit. […]

Evidently the talking points are out, since I have now heard multiple individuals, especially those of Democrat persuasion, opine that ‘We have been bombing Iraq for 20 years so obviously that doesn’t work!’ Under their breath, they take a jab at GW Bush… as if he was president 20 years ago. But it is not […]

Losing the battle on ‘gay marriage’ should be a stark reminder that this world is not our world. The worldly fight for the world tooth and nail because it, literally, is all they’ve got. We cannot fight their fights in the same way that they fight them. We can, however, fight tooth and nail for the health and well-being of our own families, minding our own business, and seeing to it that as the Titanic goes down, our own children, at least, are on the lifeboats.

Why should the vast majority of the population, which is innocent, be made to pay for the crimes of the few, by removing everyone’s freedoms and liberties just so you can feel better?
Some Vaccines Are Made from the Remains of Aborted Babies–So What? The ‘silver lining’ argument rebutted.

Some vaccines are produced using the cell lines derived from aborted children. Isn’t vaccination making the best out of a bad situation? But what if ‘making the best out of a bad situation’ is a recipe for creating even more ‘badness?’

We would be wise to avoid contributing to a culture of materialism, both in the commercial sense of the word, and the spiritual sense of the word.

No one wants to be told that they cannot play with their toy. No one wants to be told that their toy might even be dangerous in certain contexts–like the child that wishes to play baseball in the living room does not like being told to take the baseball bat and ball into the field, where that toy is more appropriate–or, that they shouldn’t bash people in the head with the baseball bat.
Apologetics Interview Questions Part 3: Intellectual State of the church and favorite Christian apologist

4. What is your opinion on the current intellectual state of the modern church? Some apologists have begun to heavily criticize it. I think there is no question that there are vast stretches of ignorance in the modern church, but I doubt the ‘modern’ part of that phrase is relevant. I’m not very impressed with […]

The gamers of World War Two Online can ‘unsub.’ The programmers can ‘tweak’ the physics of the game to try to address the myriad of mostly contradictory demands that their paying game base demand; but there is always a cost to these changes. There is a diminishing of the ‘joy’ of participating in the universe as more ad hoc changes are programmed in. The programmers have to make accommodations, or else they risk going hungry, or worse! their universe ceasing to exist altogether. That is the price of intransigent threats of withdrawing from the game. But God cannot be held hostage in this way.
